How much does it cost to send a Vift video gift message?

If purchased on vift.com, each Vift video gift message costs $1.99. On a partner retail website, you may be charged any range of price, but never less than $1.99 unless it is included in your gift purchase.

Can I create a video on any device?

Yes, Vift works on all devices, including phones, tablets, and computers – and videos can be viewed on any device. On a computer, Vift requires a webcam for video recording, but you can still upload a pre-recorded video without a webcam.

What is the difference between the two "when to send" options (Use delivery confirmation vs. Choose a specific date) when I am sending my video?

Use Delivery Confirmation means that the video will be delivered as soon as the shipping carrier marks it as “delivered” in their internal tracking system.

Although there is always room for human error, on most occasions the internal tracking system is updated in real time by the carrier driver as soon as the package is dropped off and/or signed for. Since Vift is connected directly to the carrier’s tracking system – the video is usually delivered within in 60 seconds of this update. Sometimes a Vift video will be sent BEFORE the carrier sends a delivery confirmation to you!

Best time to use it:

  • When you are sending a gift package directly to the recipient’s house.

Choose Specific Date allows you to select a specific date AND time (including time zone!) for your video to be delivered.

Best times to use it:

  • When you are delivering a gift package in person
  • When you are unsure whether the recipient will be home when the shipping carrier drops off the package
  • When you are just sending a video greeting without a physical gift.

What if I don’t have my tracking number yet, but I want to “use delivery confirmation” so that the video is delivered at the same time as the package?

When you choose “use delivery confirmation” to send the video – you have the option to tell us that you do not yet have your tracking number. If you do so, you can still send your video and we send you multiple reminder emails to come back and enter tracking information once you have it.

We will also ask you to enter a time and date of delivery as a back-up option, which will be used to deliver your video in case you forget to come back and give us your tracking number.

How does Vift know when to send a video?

How quickly is a Vift video delivered compared to the gift package when I choose “Use delivery confirmation”?

What if nobody is home when my gift package is delivered?

If you choose “use delivery confirmation” in your send settings, the video will be delivered when the package is confirmed delivered – even if the recipient is not there to receive it. Some packages require a signature, and therefore the video will not be delivered unless they are home, because the package itself will not be delivered. If there is no signature required, there is a chance that the package is delivered when the recipient is not home, and therefore the video will be delivered before they see the package.

If you are concerned that this may be problem, you can use the “choose specific date” option to send your video.

What shipping carriers is Vift compatible with?

UPS, Fedex, and United States Postal Service (packages only).

How are videos delivered to the recipient (I don’t know my friend’s email!)?

When you send the video, you have a choice between sending via email OR text message. Therefore, you can choose which way you would prefer to deliver. (For example, you may have a business contact’s email but no cell phone – and a friend’s cell but no email. There is an option for both!)

How long do videos stay up on the website?

Videos stay live for 3 months after the date of delivery. You will be notified multiple times via email prior to expiration of your videos so that you have the opportunity to save it.

When my video is about to expire, is there any way to save it?

If you want to save your video, you can do so by signing up for our parent site, KeepTree.com. For more information, please go to www.keeptree.com

Can I add any cool animation or effects to my video?

Under our current system, there is no native way to add animation or effects to your videos. However, these features are coming soon.

In the meantime, there is plenty of free software that you can download to a computer, which will work with our recorder. Some fun options include:

  • ArcSoft Magic-i Visual Effects
  • ManyCam Virtual Webcam Effects

Can I get a refund on my video?

If you purchased a video directly on vift.com, you may be eligible to receive a refund, only if the video has not been delivered yet at the time of the request. Please contact us at info@vift.com with the subject “Refund” (or you will not be eligible).

If you purchased a video on a partner retailer website, you will have to contact them directly for a refund, and are subject to their refund policy.

How private are my videos?

The links to your videos are delivered privately to the recipient and we do not ever share your videos with any 3rd party, so your videos are MOSTLY private. However, you should be aware of the following potential lapses in privacy:

  • Videos are not password protected, in the interest of a user friendly experience.
  • Therefore, similar to a regular gift card, anybody in possession of the video link may share it and view it.
  • Once the recipient receives the link to the video, they are in possession of it, and may therefore share it in any way that they would like, including placing the link on social media.
  • In some rare cases, partner retailers may ask Vift to moderate video content associated with their brand. If this is the case, an internal employee may view your video to ensure there is no inappropriate content prior to delivering the video – but we will NEVER share the video outside of such a scenario, or with a 3rd party in any case. We will also never moderate videos created on Vift, not received from or purchased on a partner retailer site. Is social sharing (ie. Twitter, Facebook) allowed?

Yes. When a person receives a video, they have the ability to share the link to their social media accounts (Twitter and Facebook, only) – and therefore your video.

Does anybody watch or moderate videos?

We do not watch or moderate videos UNLESS it is specifically requested by a partner retailer whose brand is connected to your video (for example, if you purchase or received a free Vift from their retail website – not if you come to Vift on your own).

If there is any moderation of your videos, you will be informed prior to recording in order to ensure you understand the privacy level of what you are recording.
